What an insane week it’s been.
The LD Round Up is back this week. There are many emotions and feelings from the events that’s taken place in the United States over the last few days. From the cruel racism, the death of George Floyd, the increasing COVID-19 deaths, the careless leadership from the government. White people need to do better, period.
In addition to our normal weekend activities (drives along the shore, slow mornings, apartment cleans), I’m also using this time to educate myself on racism + privilege. I can absolutely do better. So during my round up this week, I’m listing helpful resources I found and I’ll be reading, listening and watching them. It’s important to keep educating ourselves and to forever grow towards being better people. We can can always do better. So with that said,
Let’s get into this week’s finds:
Here is an anti-racism google doc full of resources (books, podcasts, videos, etc.) for white people and parents to deepen our anti-racism work. This document was put together by Sarah Sophie Flicker + Alyssa Klein. These are actionable ways to educate and do better.
When this stops “trending” your education does not. Here are ways to keep helping.
Trump’s latest tweet about looting and shooting violates his oath of office. Please read this article to learn why.
White people, please watch this video to understand the privilege we have to not be afraid of cops solely because of the color of our skin. It’s essential to watch.
Former Minneapolis Mayor writes about what he could have done better in the 12 years he was in office.
75 things white people can do for racial justice is another great resource to learn from. As stated on this page, “The answer to ignorance is education.”
Educate, understand, action and do better.
