Here’s a recap of our San Francisco and Napa trip we traveled at the end of June. Overall, the trip was amazing and I’m so happy to say I finally made it to the west coast! Work originally brought me out to San Francisco for a three day conference. Alex decided to join, so we extended our stay and traveled to Napa towards the end.
If I’m honest, I didn’t love SF as much as I thought I would. This doesn’t mean I didn’t like the city – I just had high expectations! There’s a lot of homelessness (more than NYC or other major cities I’ve been to) and it put a damper on the trip. Where we stayed didn’t help the situation because it was in the Tenderloins. This is where a lot of homelessness takes place, so I recommend not staying there!
Once we explored outside of that area and went up a few blocks (Lombard street), it was so beautiful and full of wonderful architect. I can totally see why people love this part of SF. I know there are so many other gorgeous parts of the city we didn’t get to see because of restricted time we had there.
After Alex and I crossed the Golden Gate bridge, we visited the coastal town, Sausalito. We absolutely loved our short time there. It is a stunning town right on the water. If you are ever in SF, take the time to visit!
Once work was done for the both of us, we drove up North to wine country (!), my favorite part of the trip. We stayed right outside of Napa at a resort and it was glorious. We did a couple of winery visits each day while we were there because we also wanted to enjoy the place we were staying at. Not to mention, we both just wanted to relax and enjoy the beautiful, dry California weather.
WHERE WE STAYED, ATE + DRANK AT
Hotels
The Marker – A San Francisco Hotel
Restaurants
Tratto – we ate dinner and breakfast here!
Waraku – amazing ramen place in Japantown
Johnny Foley’s Irish House – of course we needed to visit an Irish pub. They had the best vegetable stew!
Hare and Hatter Sausage Emporium
Wineries / Vineyards
Hanzell Vineyards – by far the best winery we visited. IF you are ever visiting Sonoma, add this place on your list ASAP!
It was such an incredible trip! I’m so happy we did it. I also shared more pictures on Instagram stories. You can check out my saved stories here.
Until next time……
