As I’ve mentioned before on my blog, I find shopping small and local to be extremely important. Especially when big corporations like Amazon, Nordstroms and Target are taking over brick and mortars left and right. I love supporting local and small businesses because I know where my money is directly contributing to.
Following the Black Friday madness comes Small Business Saturday #shopsmallbusiness. I love that there’s this initiative and unfortunately, I was traveling during that day to participate in. It got me thinking, it really should be Small Business Everyday and I don’t see why it can’t be. I’m not perfect and am slowly transitioning into this lifestyle, but a small act or decision of seeking out local and small businesses when you are in need of something is a step in the right direction.
If you are anything like me, you’re struggling on what to buy your friends and family for the Holidays. I try to split up my gifts into these two buckets:
a. An experience (tickets to show, art gallery, movie, sports game)
b. Thoughtful & useful gift bought with purpose (& bonus) from a local or small business
Here’s a guide and inspiration on what you can buy if you are in need of ideas:
1. / 2. / 3. / 4. / 5. / 6. / 7. / 8.
Most of my picks are actually local Boston businesses so if you are in the area, stop by!
xx
