Sweater weather is here and here to stay for the next several months in New England. Personally, I’m not that mad about it. I love comfy and cozy outfits and sweaters are always my go to. I’m rounding up my favorite sustainable & ethical brands who I think are the heroes of sweaters. I tend to come back to these brands when I’m either in need of inspiration or want to add a beautiful sweater to my wish list. Let’s dive on in:
BaBaà Knit Wear
Babaà is a Spanish brand that specializes in knit wear. All of the materials are 100% natural from local Spanish wool and cotton farmers. I haven’t bought anything from them yet, but they are always on my mind when I think of comfy cozy sweaters!
HOPEMADE
HopeMade is a Latin America, artisanal, sustainable brand. They pride themselves in creating a product that does good and feels good. Their clothes are made 100% by alpaca fiber in Peru – and is made by people who truly care. I always admire how soft their sweaters look on their site and how they provide education around how their materialist are made.
People Tree
People Tree is one of the first ethical and sustainable fashion brands and they have been around for over 45 years. People Tree was the first brand I got introduced to when I started learning about conscious fashion. The founder, Safia Minney, wrote a book called Slow Fashion, and it’s been a founding resource to conscious fashion.
Everlane
Everlane has to be one of my top conscious brands I shop from. Their transparency and innovation in the retail industry is what made me curious about them in the first place. But their design, quality and ethical factories, makes me always come back for more.
Celtic & Co.
Celtic and Co. is a newer brand I found over the last couple of weeks. They are Britain based and have a coastal vibe I like about them. I can picture every sweater being worn by the ocean. They make sure their materials are from renewable and sustainable fibers and are always looking to be more sustainable in the future.
Patagonia
Patagonia is a more well known brand that’s leading the ethical and sustainable efforts. They care and appreciate all life on earth and know our earth is under threat. Their business is always invested in doing something about it,
Reformation
Reformation is a LA based brand that’s become very popular with influencers because of their cool laid back style. You wouldn’t realize they’re a sustainable and ethical brand by looking at them quickly. However, they put sustainability at the core of everything they do. They invest in green building infrastructure to minimize their waste, water, and energy footprints.
Sézane
Sézane has got be one of my favorite brands I found in 2018. Once they had their rebranding and their fall collection came out, I was hooked. I even bought my rehearsal dress from them. They design their pieces to last and be passed down. They choose to put humans first when it comes to their workshops and choose the finest materials. They also have a program called DEMAIN – to support and promote education, access to culture and the fight for equal opportunities.
Here you have it! It’s time to cozy up with our favorite sweater and enjoy the season of hibernation.
xx
