“April….. hath put a spirit of youth in everything.”
-William Shakespeare
APRIL: This month is so different to write about than any other months because all of my usual activities I tend to look forward to will be obsolete. We are in a crazy and surreal time and all we can really do is live one day at a time. Numbers and policies are moving so fast that it’s hard to keep up or not feel overwhelmed. So for this month, I’m focusing on the things I can control.
I can control the limit of news I intake in a day. I can control what’s going to make my mental heath feel normal (ie: routines, working out, reading, romcoms, etc.). I also feel like this strange time is making everyone appreciate their privilege and how lucky they are to have a home. I’m so lucky with what we have and all I want to do is make our home a cozy haven. This time at home has made me so much more creative in the kitchen and resourceful. I’m making a lot of things from scratch because we can’t go the grocery store whenever we want to ….. and I’m starting to like the challenge.
If you saw my latest IG stories, then you know I made homemade crackers last night. They were surprisingly delicious! Here is the recipe – the ingredients are so minimal, so you’ll most likely have all of the ingredients in your cupboards to make.
I’m also looking forward to:
reading light + happy books as good distractions
facetiming or video conferencing with friends + family for some much needed social time
journaling to document my thoughts during these times
running and walking to our new favorite path to the water (less people!)
finding new recipes to make from scratch + getting into baking more
creating new norms + becoming more flexible with
seeing the small joys (even more so) in slow living
working on new collaborations + projects (more to come!)
Special thank you to all of our workers who are out there on the frontlines – our job is so easy. Stay inside everyone and be safe 🙂
xx
