Hi hi! I am so excited to share with you that I’ve been working with a sustainable Danish watch brand, called Nordgreen. They are a Copenhagen-based brand that specializes in Scandinavian minimalist design for both men and women. When they reached out to me a few weeks ago, I instantly fell in love with their design and company values. If you know anything about me, you know I adore all things Scandinavian and I care about social responsibility practices. So with both of those aspects blended together, I’m absolutely thrilled to share more about Nordgreen Scandinavian watches.
Before I get into too much of this blog post, I want to mention how aware I am of the current reality we are faced with. It’s a time that’s scary, uncertain and affecting all of us in many ways. I know how many people are affected financially right now (myself included). If you aren’t financially stable right now, I hope you get to learn about a new incredible sustainable brand. And when things are back to normal, you’ll revisit this post and brand because it’s so worth it!
Alright, let’s get back to things!
While (thankfully) being quarantined at home, I find myself facing a roller coaster of emotions. I definitely struggle with getting into a good routine! But I realize that getting dressed and putting on actual clothes with my normal accessories (including this watch), is helping me so much with my mindset. Even when I’m cooking up new recipes or making our home feel cozy with candles around the apartment. It honestly makes such a difference. These actions help me me feel normal and that’s something I can control during this uncontrollable time. These watches were meant to be worn with any type of outfit (including sweatpants!) And if we’ve learned anything from this time in our lives, it’s about the little things in life.
Nordgreen’s Story
Nordgreen was founded in 2017 by two life long friends who were seeking sustainable and honest companies. So after not finding that, they decided to create their own company. They’ve partner with one of the most renowned Scandinavian designer, Jakob Wagner, who is the the former lead designer of B&O and HAY. Now as the Chief Designer, he focuses on the perfect balance between minimalism and functionality, embedded in Danish values. I truly love how simple and clean the watches look — it’s what gravitated me to their design and overall style.
Scandinavian Style + Size
I received the Native rose gold watch with a white dial and brown vegan leather strap. I absolutely love it. Even my husband has complimented on how clean it looks! My watch is from the Native collection and that means it’s a timeless and simple design. I’m so happy with how the rose gold coloring adds a warmer tone to the more masculine leather look. It really shows off the quality of the design. Throughout my conscious journey, I’ve learned to acquire pieces that will last a long time. And that’s done with quality design and execution.
My watch is in the 36mm size, (which is their middle size option). I had a hard time picking which size watch I wanted because they all bring really cool looks. For other watch styles, Nordgreen offer two more collections, the Infinity + Philosopher. And they have a variety of interchangeable straps to add to your personal collection.
Sustainability + Nordgreen’s Giving Back Program
Now, let’s talk about the part that’s really important to me. When working with a brand, I make sure their values are in line with The LD’s ethos. Luckily, that’s definitely what I’ve found with Nordgreen!
They have strong sustainable practices when it comes to their vegan collection and Eco-friendly packaging. All of their packaging is FSC certified and the cardboard paper in their packaging comes from responsibly managed forests. They also truly care about their carbon emissions. So they have been planting 1,000 trees to offset their carbon emissions generated by their office in Copenhagen. This includes any carbon emissions from their global shipments and customer orders too.
What’s really special about Nordgreen is they have a Giving Back Program that involve donations to three global NGOs (non-governmental organizations). These organizations are categorized in these three areas: Health, Education and Environment.
So how does it work? With each watch you buy, you have the amazing opportunity to donate part of that purchase to one of the three causes that means the most to you. Protecting the environment is extremely important to me, so I’ll be choosing the environment cause, which involves protecting the rainforest. Pretty incredible!
