I want to pull together a shopping small round up because during these uncertain times, it’s still important to support our small businesses out there. They are truly hurting just like the rest of our economy. And as weird as it seems (or off putting), to write a post about “shopping,” there’s still importance in it. For those who are financially stable and in need of new things for the home, go ahead and support small.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants to add new things or change a room around after being home for x amount of days! I’ve rounded up some of my favorite small businesses (you might be familiar with a few of them). My favorites are a mix of businesses that produce home goods, clothing and jewelry.
Let’s get into it!
OLIVES + GRACE
Olives + Grace is a small shop dedicated to tipping their hat to the makers of the world. This shop is located in Boston, MA (South End) and founded by Sofi Madison in 2012. This little corner establishment is the perfect go-to shop for gifts and self-care.
JUNE HOME SUPPLY
June Home Supply is founded by a husband + wife duo in 2014, located in Winnipeg, Canada. They are an online and in-store boutique offering quality home goods for simple living. Their pieces are beautiful, yet functional. They are simple, yet show stoppers in a home. I’ve been slowly collecting home goods from them since 2018.
PACKAGE FREE SHOP
Package Free Shop is one of the first zero-waste shops located in Brooklyn, NY and is founded by zero-waste expert, Lauren Singer. This place is literally your one-stop-shop for all things plastic free and zero-waste goods that are in your life. The products range from storage tins to cloth pads during your period. Truly everything!
HELEN MILAN
Helen Milan is an online shop that’s been curated for beautiful, functional and earth-friendly goods. I also love that this shop is run by another husband + wife duo and they are located on the south shore, ma (hi home!). It’s a common theme here, but these pieces are perfect for the zero-waste advocate looking to incorporate this lifestyle into their home and on the go.
NOTARY CERAMICS
Notary Ceramics is ceramic studio and shop located in Portland, Oregon and founded by creator, Sarah Van Raden. All of her clays are sourced locally and made in the Pacific Northwest. These ceramic pieces are truly dreamy and one of a kind to have in a home.
VETTA
Vetta is an online sustainable and ethical clothing brand (headquartered in Boston). They specialize in creating capsule collections of pieces that can be worn in many different ways and paired perfectly with the other pieces in the collection. The design of the clothing is brilliant and their sustainability efforts are amazing.
GLDN
GLDN is an ethical online jewelry brand based in Washington state. Think minimal personal jewelry that’s made by hand + love. Not only is the jewelry personally made for you, but 10% of their profits go to communities / organizations that matter to the team. I actually wore this bracelet (in gold) on my wedding day – it was the perfect timeless touch.
I hope everyone stays healthy + safe. And don’t forget to support our small businesses, so they can come back stronger and better after we get through all of this.
xx
