In honor of Earth Day earlier this week, I wanted to spend some time and dedicate a post about saving our planet.
I know it’s exhausting and overwhelming to hear, but it’s a reality we’re currently living in and facing. AND if you’re open to it, then you should be educating yourself on what’s happening and how you can help make change.
By no means am I an expert on this, but I have taken time to learn. I’ve taken the time to become a lot more conscious of my actions that take part in contributing to the destruction of our planet – and how I can change that. Below are some thoughtful resources I found to help me become a better advocate for this planet and its future:
1. Watch this BBC documentary, Climate Change – The Facts, enough said.
2. Understand this is not only an environmental crisis but a social economic crisis as well.
In order to make real change, it needs to come from the government. The fact that I can shop sustainable, live a “zero waste” life and even blog about it is because I’m PRIVILEGED. Read this article to get a better understanding.
3. Surround yourself with information on how you can SOLVE this problem.
Not only is it important to educate yourself on how we got into this mess, but it’s just as important (if not more) on how we fix it. Although there isn’t much time left before the damage is completely irreversible, don’t get discourage and embrace the defeat – let’s get going on the change. There are many zero waste and sustainable influencers to help with day to day changes. And here are are two sites that give a wealth of knowledge on the larger impacts: The Climate Reality Project + Draw Down.
