I’m not sure what it is, but there’s something so relaxing when looking through other people’s homes. Especially, during a time when we are all (luckily) in our respective homes all day. The constant staring at our spaces has us all looking for inspiration on what we want to change. It’s definitely left me in an aspirational mood, so I pulled together a round up of 5 home tours embracing slow living.
If you saw my last home tours blog post, you’ll know there’s a theme of Scandinavian design mixed with cottage / rustic living. I love both styles, especially when they’re mixed well together. Grab a cup of tea (or wine) and enjoy the aesthetics of these beautiful homes.
Let’s take a look!
Washington Craftsman Home
warm + purposeful
Home Tour Source: Local Milk
I came across this home after following Lindy Dodge on Instagram because her value of creating an intentional home is gravitating. Lindy is a mom of two and lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband. Not only is she a seamstress and potter, but she owns a home goods store, Thimble & Cloth. I love the muted color scheme that runs through this home. It keeps this space looking current while giving a nod to it’s old bones. Lindy and her husband renovated their 1912 home on their own and the space looks so clam and natural. View the rest of their home tour and learn how their space came to be.
Historical Apartment in France
doing something new with old
Home Tour Source: The Socialite Family
This boutique apartment(s) is located in Reims, France and it is oh so dreamy, especially if you’re a fan of antiques. This space has been renovated by Annabelle Brun and Brice Bérard and they have an Instagram page dedicated to their renovation updates on this historical building. I have to admit this apartment is not theirs, but two guesthouses you can rent out. So although this isn’t their home, they’ve created a place with one of a kind antique pieces that brings back the soul and life of a once abandoned building. Take a look at their boutique guesthouses and learn the history behind the renovations.
A Sunday House in Texas
natural + minimal
Home Tour Source: Camille Styles
I love that throughout this house there’s so many natural textiles, whether that’s wood, cement or woven pieces. It makes this open concept home feel cozier than it is. This space is by Kate Zimmerman Turpin and her husband, who are based in Hunt, TX. The blend of both minimalist and farmhouse styles is what made me so intrigued with this house. View the rest of their home tour here to learn more about why it’s called a Sunday house and how they decorated their home with unique pieces.
1927 Copenhagen Townhouse
calming earthy tones
Home Tour Source: My Scandinavian Home
This space is so dreamy and realistic – which is why I like it the most out of the bunch. It’s a 1927 townhouse recently renovated by a Copenhagen couple who are expecting their first child. The decor and design is so aesthetically pleasing and approachable at the same time. The light coloring of the wood creates an earthy warm vibe throughout the townhouse. As someone who’s open to living in a townhouse space, it gives me hope on the endless possibilities we can do. You’ll definitely want to view the rest of their home tour and follow them on Instagram for more updates.
Eco-Friendly Home In Maine
creative + homey
Home Tour Source: Nordic Design
I’m so excited to share this home on the house tour post because I’ve been pinning all of their images to my Pinterest board for the last year or so. This home takes place in Maine and it was built completely from scratch by a husband + wife duo. It was built to be very energy efficient (ie: a wood burning stove is the only source of heat – in Maine none the less!) They both love the early New England architecture and it was important for them to incorporate natural non-toxic materials. Their home is so unique, creative and natural. And they’re building more spaces on their property – I can’t wait to see more! View more pictures and a Q&A about the home here.
